During all this time I have stayed with PT 10. I'm not a professional sound recorder, I don't work at a studio, I'm not trying to be a great home studio engineer, etc. I just do some overdubs on backing tracks for fun, and do some singer-songwriter work tapes. When I'm serious about a song I record it in Nashville, which sounds better than anything I could ever do. However, my favorite studio uses ProTools (not sure of the version, last time I asked it was PT10) and when everything is finished they put it on a flash drove and I import it, track by track, into my PT10 on my 17 inch MacBook Pro. I've never had any problem with this, and enjoy it.
So, here I am with an Eleven Rack that won't work, and I never used PT12, but I've paid for both. I thought about downloading the latest version of PT, but I also keep asking myself, I don't see any problems using PT 10, so why do I need anything more?
So, PT 12 has been out long enough for people to have a good opinion. For the uses I have described, is there any real reason for me to download PT 12? Other than some very specialized uses, maybe like auto-tune, etc. I don't see anything listed that makes me think I'm missing out on anything. Also, I haven't check to see if PT 12 needs more CPU than PT 10. I don't want to overload my laptop, because that method works well for me since I take it with me, especially to Nashville.
I decided to visit here and ask about the major advantages of PT 12 over PT10, or should I just stay happy with what I'm using?
Thanks in advance,
JGP
