PT12 on New Macbook Pro - Video Card?

Hey All

I'm looking to get a new Macbook Pro:
2,8GHz i7
16GB RAM
512GB Flash
Intel Iris Pro Graphics & AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB

But, I noticed a model in the refurb store that only has the Intel Iris Pro Graphics. Is the secondary AMD graphics a must-have for Pro Tools? I have no immediate plan to use a secondary monitor with the rMBP but I might in the future.

Any advice? I would love to save a few hundred $ if I can!

Pitch II plug-in midi control?

Is there a way to "play" the Pitch II plug-in with midi? That is, the midi notes select the note on the Pitch II keyboard. if you have a monotone track, you can apply a melody to it.

You can do this with the UAD Eventide H910 Harmonizer plug-in and it's very cool.

Pitch II plug-in midi control?

AAE error 6 onm PT 12

Ya know, I was on Yosemite for a few months and these dumb AAE errors got worse and worse. My audio was running off an internal SSD drive on a 2012 Macbook Pro and it made absolutely no sense. I eventually formatted the entire mix rig, and reinstalled Mountain Lion and every app from scratch - something I really wasn't looking forward to doing, and that eventually took me over 5 days to completely straighten out. With over 350 plugin licenses, settings and sample libraries to reinstall, it wasn't something I enjoyed...but I will say, I have not had a single AAE message since doing it. My Yosemite partition was running great otherwise, and all other apps were fine, so I suspect that Yosemite is not a great Operating System for Pro Tools. Then again, neither is El Capitan, since I first tried building up a new rig for that before discovering that many of my plugins weren't supported and don't work (Plugin Alliance, namely, which is a huge one for me).

Mountain Lion rocked, still rocks and I hope it will for some time. I'll be quite pissed once it is longer supported. I don't believe in this yearly update of a major operating system and personally, I'd rather keep older Pro Tools rigs going just to get the job done. They're stable, solid, and these days can be had for very little on the used market.

AAE error 6 onm PT 12

Ran out of CPU Power

I am wondering if anyone else has run into this problem and if it can be solved.
I have a mid 14 Macbook Pro 2.8 i7, 16gb RAM, PT 12.3.0 Native. Avid Omni. Yosemite 10.10.2.

Generally, minus the video engine errors, the system works well. That is if I have nothing else going on on the computer. Lets be honest, most of us need to multitask these days. If I have anything else going on like syncing with Dropbox or Hightail or whatever, I get these "ran out of CPU" errors.
I have tried running up the Disk Cache but it does not help. I am pretty baffled that I cannot run a session and multitask on my computer at the same time.
Doing some tests again today and my CPU usage in PT is at about 15%

I'm just looking for some insight here as the only solution I see is to buy a new Mac Pro which may or may not solve the problem.

PT 12.3.1 and AvidAppManager missing from downloads

Hello,

please see topic, only able to find 12.2.1 or so in my installs

FWIW I was able to find a downloaded version of 12.3, but right now I'm without AvidAppManager and so unable to update to the latest version of PT!

I see from this document that the blue sync i/o is not supported but the blue sync HD is kinda supported (when they say haven't tested, I'm presuming like the 192s that they work but they'd rather sell you the purple-faced stuff, feel free to correct me on this)

Advice on updating from 11.3 to 12 ???

Looking for advice on updating from 11.3 to 12.

After reading the posts on the stability issues not sure if I should update.
It looks like the update is already available in my accounts.

I have two iloks one currently used for 11.3 The second one never used or activated.
Would it be wise to get a new drive with windows 7 or 8 or 10 on it and then a fresh install of PT 12 and run it with the second ilok?
Not sure if that is even possible.
And keep the old 11.3 on the old hard drive with the current ilok and not run it connected to the web?

Or are the stability issues just another thing that you work your way through and resolve. I have been real happy with 11.3 so far.

When this feature will be avaliable?
Sends could have a toggle switch to select each send to be set to pre or post insert. Eg. To make some roomtracks, we must send before processeing to a reverb bus, than commit that bus. If we need to adust some detail in that submix, we need to do a new commit. Each time we need to fix something on that submix. With that toggle we do not need to do those commits. Just set the sends to pre-insert and we're ready to go. Without losing focus. That would be great!

Standalone - "Load all rigs"

Hey guys!
Been lurking for a while, but now i have a question i can't seem to find in previous posts...

when loading presets in the standalone editor, there is an option to "load all from computer" (don't remember exact verbage, as i'm currently at work), and if you select it, it's looking for a .htm file.

what is that for exactly?

I assumed it would allow loading multiple .tfx files, but could be wrong.

The Neuron works in stand alone (with Hijack), but no audio when used as plug-in instrument in PT10...

Need help with Neuron plug-in

Change Track View "vol" or Pan parameter only on selected Tracks

For those who use Ctrl Start Alt - Clicking (Cmd Opt Ctrl)
"vol" in the Edit Window to show the volume track view on all tracks or
a pan parameter in the output window to change the track view to that on all tracks or
the track name to change track view to waveform :
Ctrl Start Alt Shift - Clicking will do this for only the selected tracks.
I do not believe, that it is documented anywhere (counterevidence must include the name of the document and page ).
Overcomes the logical gap between change track view on a single track (Ctrl Start Clicking) and on all tracks (Ctrl Start Alt Clicking).

(Yes, Ctrl Start Arrows will do similarily, but often I do not want to toggle to all pan parameters to find eventually "f/r div".)

Izotope RX5 Dialoge denoise audio dropouts

Hi all
Having an issue with RX5 on a protools 12.3.1 rig where the Dial denoiser on an insert seems to be causing the audio to randomly dropout.
RX4 version seems to be fine.
No, its not a cracked version and I get the problem whether in bypass or not.

Wondered whether anyone else has had the same issue

This is bizarre and after 4 days and no word from Air, I thought I should post here. I bought the original 1.0 RTS plugins in 2011, then upgraded in 2014 (yes it was $99 or later in the year $129 with Loom and Vacuum Pro) to 2.0. At the time, I saved all my emails so I would have the activation codes (a 5 segment code with 4 digits per segment, a total of 20 digits) for when I bought a new iMac. Which I just did a few weeks ago (it's loverly). However, after downloading and installing the new software, I come up against this dilemma - the new activation codes I'm being asked to enter are 8 segment codes, 4 digits each for the first 7 and the 8th wants a 2 digit field (a total of 30 digits). I'm 10 digits short! Here's the screen shot. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, could help me? as I said, I wrote to Air and 'air" is all I'm getting back.

I'm having horrendous issues trying to sync Pro tools as a slave to a master clock coming from an MPC4000 via an RME UFX (MTC + MMC) - i think i've isolated it to being something to do with MMC (although it could be somewhat time code related too). Basically I can see audio on the input pro tools meters but as soon as pro tools is put into online mode the level disappears... likewise when no audio is playing and i start the MPC you see a single spike on the pro tools meters and then nothing (although interestingly sometimes there appears to be a second spike several seconds later). I should point out the RME shows input is still getting that far but inputs within pro tools and therefore the outputs on the RME go silent
...
This is driving me crazy - has anyone got any ideas? (No I don't want to run pro tools as the master)

Commit Bug in 12.3.1

I'm getting a bug if i Commit with "Edit Selection".
Once PT has committed and created a new file, close the session and re-open, the newly created file now appears at the start of the session and isn't in the same place where it was created. Spot worked the first time this occurred but the second time the Original Time Stamp was completely wrong.

Anyone else seeing this?

2 Small/Technical Issues

Hello,

It seems that every month my Pro Tools surprises me with new mishaps.

2 PROBLEMS:

1) When I open a new session, I can not move the mix window faders at all. They are locked and if anyone knows the magic button, please let me know (no the faders aren't inactive and gray)

2) When I try to import audio, this window pops up: (it's attached)

Does anyone have a solution?

These might be minor problems, but I keep getting stuck on this small stuff.

2 Small/Technical Issues

Trouble returning midi to original state.

I recorded midi with PT set to unknown tempo. Then increased tempo forgetting about my midi take... then set timebase to "samples" in order to get original midi performance, but nothing happens to the midi. PT forgets the original performance because I changed tempo while midi was set to "ticks" then selected "samples".

I have tried restore performance. The restore does not seem to apply to midi that is shifted due to a tempo shift and then timebase changed to samples. My problem is I do not know what tempo i had originally set when recorded.

That does not seem right to me.

Can anyone reproduce what im getting?

record midi at 120 set to ticks. THen increase tempo to 160. Change timebase to samples. Midi does not change. Restore performance does nothing.

If I have several 4 bar clips of drums, adjacent to each other all on one track, is it possible to do a fade out on all 3?
The fades dialogue brings up cross-fades , but not fade out.

Hey Friends

I am seriously looking to buy 2 of the MTi2 Ravens as they are silly cheap here in Sweden finally. Under $1400 which with taxes and other addons to pay for people who don't wanna work and stay home on benefit living off the working man.

Anyheeew I wanna ask who havegot one and if it plays nicely with PT.

I would Love to hear from anyone who might even have two of them and using them at the same time with Pro Tools.

Any info is much appreciated as we are pulling the plug on the purchase before the weekend so we have them by mid next week.

Clicks and Pops in PT12 (No hardware, no plug ins)

Hi all,

Just installed Pro Tools 12, created a new session with one mono track, and am just playing around with a guitar through the built-in line in on my Mac. No hardware, no plug-ins.

I'm getting a bunch of clicks and pops on the track. The same is true if I open an old session and play it back.

I've allocated a larger buffer size and cache size, but neither has done the trick. Could this be an indicator of insufficient RAM? I've got the latest OS with 4 gb RAM at 2.2 ghz.

trouble shoot from scratch

Hello fellow users, now when I say start from scratch I mean trying to find where my issue lies.

I have a few little niggles with my PT system I wouldn't class them as really major issues but they do slow my work flow down a little. I've decided I'm going to try and get to the bottom of them though now.

1st issue is when I open waves Kramer TDM and Slate VTM my system becomes a little laggy. Now I'm thinking as both these have spinning wheels that this might be graphics card related.

2nd issue is I get pops/clicks/bangs when stopping and starting play back sometimes. I've tried to film this but as I'm waiting on my Raven to arrive pressing the space bar gives just as loud a click on the film footage as the click from the speaker. Again I'm not sure if this is normal as this is the only TDM system I've used.

If you check my sig you will see the system I'm running with a magma chassis. I'm no computer wiz but I'm thinking maybe I could try and trouble shoot these issues from the ground up and find the solution so that my system runs hassle free. If there is anyone out there running the same kind of system or could help me out with where to start for trouble shooting It would be very much appreciated

I'm currently working off of protools 10 for my latest project and just recently downloaded it to my new macbook. when i started my session i see the mic is getting signal but it won't play back (but will show waveforms of what i recorded) the midi keyboard on the other hand is not getting any signal at all in pro tool but everything works perfectly in garage band can someone tell me how to fix this.

Hey guys,

I'm just wondering if AVID really wants any money for the upgrades or not? First, Safari wouldn't work with the checkout, so I used Chrome. And now, all I get is a "500 Internal Server Error" message after I enter the iLok account name...

Anyone else having issues right now?

Midi not working with Digi 003 rack after OS update

Hi,

I am having some trouble with my midi and wondered if anyone could offer any solutions. I've spent a good while searching the internet for a fix but can't find anything that has helped me up to now.

Basically, I have my 003 rack running with either pro tools 10 or logic 9 when composing music. I've had it working fine for a good few months whilst I was working on a film score and I decided to update my OS yesterday having finally finished all my work. But now neither logic or pro tools will recognise my keyboard that is connected to the midi port on the 003. The green midi light is on plus the green host light but there is no response from either DAW when I play any notes.

I did have the same problem about a month ago when I upgraded my pro tools from 8 to 10 but all I needed to do then was download the right 003 drivers and everything was working again. But since I updated my OS from snow leopard to mountain lion yesterday the midi problem is back. Each DAW recognises midi through USB such as my fader controller and my drum pads but nothing that is connected via midi ports on my 003.

Like I said I've spent ages now trying to find the right solution but have had no luck so thought I'd try posting this to see if anyone can help.

Initial video drift

I'm trying to trouble shoot a client's recently upgraded PT rig.

PT HD 12.2.1
Mac OSX 10.10.5
Blackmagic Decklink
JVC projector
Video offset checked with Syncheck II

I've not had a lot of time to test this but at the moment it looks like the video has an initial offset of just over 4fr, but after about 25sec this will have drifted back to a steady 2fr. There doesn't appear to be a drift after the initial 25fr.

Has anyone had similar experience and know of a cause or fix?

This started a day ago and am unable to fix it. Creating a new session helps but when I reopen that session the error pops back up. Have tried resetting prefs as well. Once that error pops up am not able to play or edit as the error continues to show up. This PT 12.3.1, OSX 10.10.5 just FYI went back to previous version of PT with same results. Hopefully someone has a solution. Thank you all.

AAE 2 Error

Good morning. I've been using Pro tools now for quite some time and although I've learned quite a bit, mostly due to you kind folks on the DUC. I consider myself not much more than a beginner. Some of you are aware of my mental short comings due to a stroke and I appreciate your consideration.
That said, I've been researching methods of combining Pro tools with something I'm more comfortable with. I happen to own The Alesis HD24, hard disk recorder and a 24 track Mackie console which I purchased years ago pre stroke. Both still work perfectly. It is my understanding that the hard disk recorder can be linked to my pc via TOSLINK cables whereby I can share files, (songs) back and forth between Pt's and the HD24. This may seem very old school,(I hate that phrase), but as I said, different strokes... I have always missed mixing hands on with a console. The combination of the HD24, the Mackie console and Protools for it's advanced editing features sounds like my thing! I need to know how to implement this combination. What cards, etc. do I need to add to my pc ? What software? and most of all, can a person like me do this? Thanks. :

I know I know how to do this...but.....aargh!

I have copied a section of MIDI a whole heap of times, across various instruments, and have discovered a mistake.

How do I edit ONE instance of the MIDI section and get it to alter all of the subsequent copies?

MsDSP license problem

After a time machine restore PT 10.3.9 (os 10.9.5) McDSP Native V5 license not working anymore. (iLok 2). When trying to install again I get this message (after the fill in form, from MCDSP).
Some file is locked, but which one?
Anyone seeing this before?

Hola a todos, por update cambie el disco duro de mi macbook white 6.1 a un ssd, el problema es que antes me funcionaba mi interfaz mbox 2 mini sin problemas en mavericks 10.9.5, ahora con el nuevo disco y el mismo mavericks 10.9.5 no suena. probe con los 3 drivers que aparecen en avid (9.0, 10.3.3 y 10.3.9), probe cambiando de cable y nada. existe algun orden para instalar el drivers, recuerdo que la ultima vez tambien me dio problemas pero un dia me aburri y al otro la conecte para probar y funciono, por eso no recuerdo como lo hice!!... favor su ayudaa!!!

since im running PT HD 12.3.1 only native ,
using still PT 10 with HD hardware , for recording , with Pitch Shift (legacy TDM) as low-latency Realtime PlugIn while dubbing

and since there is (at least as AAX native) no Pitch Shift Legacy REALTIME
PlugIn , i am wondering , if , when upgrading to HDX hardware ,
( what i am planning in the near future) there is a REALTIME DSP (AAX64 DSP) Pitch Shift Legacy PlugIn or is only Pitch II (which i dont like for many reasons) as DSP version available ?

Pitch Shift Legacy DSP (or Pitch I TDM) is a Must for my workflow ,
upgrading to HDX without DSP version makes no sense.

Is anyone having the issue below?

When i have a layout stored, with 4 tracks locked/assigned to specific tracks, and the other 4 are auto assigned, the mix artist series just nudges tracks (one at a time) on the auto assigned tracks... it doesn't bank the 4 tracks in groups of 4.

My configuration is an Avid Artist Mix/Transport/Control in this order from left to right. I'm using 3.3.2, pro tools 12.3.1 and OS X 10.10.5.

I've also locked 4 tracks in the artist control to be specific tracks.

A few little hiccups from shipping but mostly all is very good.

Avid should have kept selling this, there's no reason why they couldn't have done this and the S6 as 2 totally different beasts.

I've seen the S6 and it's very impressive however it's way too over the top for me with all the colours and screens, what I do like about Icon is it feels very much like an analogue workflow.

Can you still transfer ownership of LE8 and 002?

I am selling my 002 console.
When I bought it there was a transfer of hardware ownership program that included PT LE 8.
At the time the software license must be transferred with the hardware.
Is that still true today?
Can I tranfer the PT LE8 to the new owner?
If so can they Upgrade to the PT10-11-12 license before 12/31/15?

[Windows 7/64 PT 11.3]

When using elastic audio, there are often artifacts if you record an audio track at one speed and then speed it up, especially with bass or guitar, you often get wobbles, noise and artifacts. I would be really grateful if you know a fix for this.

Does anyone know when Avid will release a compatible Eleven Rack driver for ElCapitan? It seems like a long,long time to wait for a release when you paid so much for the software set up along with the Hardware and subscriptions. It still does not work. It is frustrating

Avid Application Manager Not Updating

My Application Manager wont update to new versions. It doesn't even show that there are new updates even though it is synced. I am downloading Pro Tools 12.3.1 T right now manually. Has anyone experienced this problem? Know how to solve it? Here is a screenshot.

Avid Application Manager Not Updating

Missing plugin presets after upgrade to PT12

I upgraded from PT10 to PT12 last week and have both PT10 & PT12 installed on my mac.
Now I'm noticing that none of the plugins running on PT12 have presets
though the ones on PT10 still do.
I'm in the process of manually importing them, but would like to know what might have went wrong to keep any stock presets from installing.
This goes for avid plugins or other brands like McDSP and fabfilter.

Any help in figuring this out is appreciated.

Squiggly Fader Lines on Meters

Anyone notice that the fader lines on each track in PT 12.3 get squiggly at times? They aren't straight. As you move the fader up and down, the lines become straight sort of, but then it goes back to being squiggly again as you keep working. Seems like a graphics glitch. The faders simply aren't straight and crisp, graphics wise. I've noticed it since PT 11. Not a major thing, but if you're riding faders for automation, it can be distracting.

Hi there - I just updated from PT11 to PT12 and installed the latest download. I can't get the Space plug to authorize. I've read online people were waiting for their license to appear in their iLok account. However, that was back in Sep. Have I missed something or download the wrong thing?

Pro tools running out of CPU power AAE-9173

Hey everyone, I'm looking for some insight with a two continuing problems I am having. I'm fairly new to protools worked with it in the past and have only owned it for a couple months. I have the a student version (not sure if that matters in this situation).

The first problem is when I open up a recent session, all the audio sounds distorted and robot like. When I close it and restart the program it seems to just go away. Why?

The second problem is a reoccurring message (Pro Tools ran out of CPU power. Try to de-activation or removing Native plug-ins. (AAE -9173)..

I've upgraded both my operating system and my pro tools versions thinking it was just a bug in the current versions, I even went as far as having my computer cleaned of any clutter that was making it slow and made it specifally for recording use's only.

I recently installed Amplitube 4 and Addictive Drums 2. I've used this combo in the past with a friends computer when we didn't have anything mic's to use, basically running the same set up, but the only difference is that his laptop was a tad newer than mine.

Could that be the problem? or could it be something I'm just not seeing? Do I have to many plug-ins going at once?

Software is good but needs improvement.

The software doesn't connect at times, or connects and then randomly looses connection.
I have to trash Eucon prefs and then it works again
Problem appears worse in protools 11.3.2 is better in 11.3.1. I've had the same issue happen in 12.3 at 1st it worked great then randomly would not connect or drop connection

Is anyone having issues with panning automation? I've just tried automating a mono track, which had previously been panned center. As soon as I put automation anywhere in the track, everything panned towards that direction, even while the automation and display was showing 0 (centered). Further confusing is the fact that even where the automation was 100R, the sound was still not 100R. I took off all plugins and routed it directly through an output instead of my master bus to rule out any funny stuff there. It almost sounds like it is continuously ramping between values instead of holding the values I'm setting. Anyone else having issues with this?

Delay Compensation sometimes not recognized

PT 10.3.10
OS 10.8.5
32 GB RAM
2 x 2.4 GHz 6-core Intel Xeon processor

Sometimes Pro Tools does not recognize that Delay compensation is on. In the playback engine, it says maximum, but it does not seem to be working correctly.

Simply toggling on/off without leaving playback engine window does not seem to work. I actually have to set it to none, close the playback engine, then go back to the playback engine and turn it back on.

Has anyone experienced this and/or know how to make it so that the delay compensation just does what it says it is doing?

Is it possible to install Omnsiphere 2 without the optical drive on a macbook pro? I have an external drive to store the sounds. When I begin to install it on the mac it finds the STEAM folder on the other drive but still asks for the discs. thanks

Which is the Best version of Mavericks and Pro Tools 10?

Hello, I'm trying to use pro tools 10 and 12 on Mavericks... I found out my Mac can install Mavericks even if it was shipped with Yosemite (was a refurbished one)... So... I'm wondering which is the best version of Mavericks to use it with pro tools 10...? And does pro tools 12 work well in Mavericks?

122ms of noise on bounced/exported files

Does anybody else notice that there is about 122ms of noise on exported or bounced files from Pro Tools 12?

I can't hear the noise, or even see the noise in Pro Tools zoom but if I open in WaveLab, I can see about 122ms of noise. I actually don't know if the noise comes from consolidating the clip in Pro Tools, or on the export but it's certainly visible in WaveLab. The file should have about 200ms if digital black before any sound comes in, but PT always adds this noise. This is likely also what was confusing the auto-blanking in my dither module of choice in Pro Tools...because there isn't true silence at the head of the file.
